Dr Mercy Korir, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Willow Health Media, moderated a vital conversation on the role of counties in achieving Universal Healthcare (UHC) through Social Health Insurance for Kenyans through the Social Health Authority (SHA) during the 5th Legislative Summit on March 17, 2025.
The Summit, organized by the County Assemblies Forum, brought together key legislative stakeholders from the counties and national government to foster collaboration and dialogue around enhancing healthcare access at all levels.
Dr Korir guided the session, with insightful contributions from a panel of experts in healthcare, public health policy, and county governance, Hon. Dr James Nyikal, Member of Parliament and Kenya National Assembly Health Committee Chairperson, Dr Mutakha Kangu, PhD, Advocate and Constitutional Law Expert, Dr. Brian Lishenga, Chairperson, Rural & Urban Private Hospitals Association of Kenya, Hon. Lennox Mwasoko, Member of County Assembly and Kwale County Health Committee Chairperson, and Emily Barsito, Epidemiologist representing the Chief Executive Officer, National Cancer Institute.
