The Weeping Willow is a well-known tree in Kenya, its looping branches provide shade and safety to many animals, and its extensive roots appropriate for conserving riparian land.
More importantly, it has medicinal properties: the bark of some willow trees contain salicin, a compound used in aspirin.
Indeed, some communities in Kenya like the Kikuyu, Kalenjins and the Maasai use the bark of willow trees for bone and muscle pain relief. This makes “Willow Health Media” an aptly inspired name for a new health-focused outlet. Our motto is Empowering Health Through Knowledge.
The founding team at Willow Health Media began their journey at the Health & Science Desk at the Standard Group, Kenya’s oldest media house since 1902.
We are a team dedicated to producing and distributing editorially independent health reporting across different platforms including broadcast and social media platforms.
To empower communities by bridging the gap between health knowledge and action using transformative health journalism in Kenya.
